I setup a rig in my parents garage when I was working on a lot of different clips you have seen in some of my other content. I turned on a latin jam track and this was the result.
I think I originally titled it "Get the Gringo". I have sense learned that the scale I am playing is the Dorian Scale which is commonly used in latin music.
I like it an it's very much Santanaesque obviously. I mean he was essentially a blues musician and those too styles blend so well together.
When Dick Dale (The Guy known for the iconic song Misirlou from Pulp Fiction) used a lot of that latin gypsy-styled technique. I saw him one time and he is one of the most incredible musicians and live performers I have ever seen.
Just like anything else people typically only associate what becomes famous with them and don't see the full picture but Dick Dale is one of those iconic artists that literally just needed to promote the fact that he was in town for people to show up. He just had that type of magnetism. I'm sad I only got to see him once.
I remember watching Dick Dale transverse the entire bandstand during his set playihng trumpet, drums and guitar. It was impressive and a true example of unicorn level mastery.
Artists of today literally have no clue.
Spanish guitar has always inspired me and when I started taking guitar seriously when I was 17 “La Gitanita” was the first song I taught myself. Imagine that. I’m essentially a blues musician playing all that. I’m not the only one though alot of other artists transverse styles like that as well and the reason they do is because the sound is hard to resist.
